HOW I MAKE ART

This is one of my shelves stocked with old books
(and CDs) I have collected over the years.

This is a bin of loose papers. The green box is full of old photographs.

Blank canvas board.

Selecting book pages and papers for first layer.
Ubiquitous diet soda.

All glued down.
The photo at the top is the inspiration for this piece
- that and the song Superman by REM.

Colored pencil.

Acylic glazes.

Another layer of collage and paint on the figure.

Adding detail with colored pencil and oil pastels.

More glazing.

A final layer of oils for definition and contrast
and a signature.

Not all of my work is made using this exact process,
but this is a good, uncomplicated example of how
things come together for me in general.

Thanks for taking a look.
